Welcome to my blog! My name is Richard and I recently became a father! I am a California transplant living in Ohio and loving the change of pace. I have had a passion for health and fitness for most of my life. I have been involved in various forms of weight training for over 15 years. I have been practicing Yoga for over 10 years. I have studied martial arts for several years. I am self taught in nutrition, alternative health and complementary medicine. I grew up in the healthcare field and had the back drop of a family health food store (which has been open for 27 years and 2 of those managed by me) as my training grounds. This blog is my attempt to bring my passions to the web and in sharing what I have learned I hope to help those that read my posts.
We juggle so many activities which leaves so little time for our own well being. The purpose of this blog is to share ways that I have found to maximize my health and still leave time to enjoy life. I have come to realize that the fitness industry is like any business and wants to increase profits. I do not buy into that hype and will share the exercises/systems that I have found to be highly effective, efficient, inexpensive and most importantly…health first focused!
Another purpose of this blog is to share the importance of nutrition. I will give insight into how to feed and support your body from the inside through diet. Having grown up in healthcare I also have an appreciation for science and so I try to stay within the realm of proven information. I do understand the importance of anecdotal evidence and will try to find a balance between the two when sharing information on complementary medicine.
Completing a well rounded life includes recovery, both physical and mental. I began practicing yoga to heal a back injury. Through that practice I have learned the importance of recovery, but also the importance of being mentally grounded. Especially important is a healthy spiritual life which helps to put yourself in the right frame of mind. I will share ways I have learned to speed recovery, prevent injury, and stay motivated.
I have devoted countless hours to studying and reading to come up with logical conclusions (just ask my wife). I will share them in my blog in the hopes that they will help guide you to a healthier life. If something I share doesn’t make since or is flat wrong please correct me. I am on a life of learning and am always willing to re-evaluate a position. We can all benefit from the collective knowledge, but only if we share it with each other.
Blessings to you and please enjoy!
Richard

Hi Richard,
Love your blog! What a beautiful family!
Thank you! I agree, but I am a little biased.
